COVID-19 restrictions temporarily closed The GreenHouse as a physical classroom until spring 2021 when smaller groups of 5 were able to attend.
During the autumn, winter and early spring several Zoom Botanical classes proved successful, bringing together friends, artists and botanical painting.
Those who took part will agree that it was a joyful two hours spent together. Not only were participants able to talk to each other but also enjoy time working together on techniques and not necessarily being ‘strictly botanical’.
There was time for demonstrations, discussions and looking at examples of great botanical art, classical and contemporary, in the many publications I have here in the GreenHouse.
In class painters generally pursue their own projects working step by step and concentrating on perfecting techniques during the process.
Beginners are welcome and learn through carefully constructed exercises, which are then applied, through small projects, to botanical specimens. Botany is crucial to BOTANICAL ART and very much part of every-day study material at the GreenHouse
For the more proficient and professional painters there are tutorials/seminars where finesse and more complex concepts and techniques are explored to take the art to a higher level.
Private tuition is also available.
